A little Japan in Belgium

We had a brilliant, warm fall day yesterday. Perfect for a day out, so we went to visit the Japanese Gardens in Hasselt, a city about 45km/28 miles east of Louvain.  These gardens were constructed in 1992 and I've never seen them! With a surface of 25000 m² (2,5 ha/ about 6.17 acres) the Hasselt Japanese Garden is the largest of its kind in Europe.

It was a wonderful day with the beautiful Japanese Maple Trees all colored red, spectacular Koi fish and well, I'll let the pictures speak for themselves...

Hey Mieke!
Love these shots. We have a place called The Huntington Gardens close by and in those gardens they have a Japanese Garden. They have a tea house where you can relax. It is so pretty there.
The Fall COLORS you have now are gorgeous! Most of our leaves won't turn until maybe Dec or Jan. (It's kinda the pits.)
Anyway - thanks for sharing! Have a great day! Hugs.

Oh, so beautiful! Japanese maples are one my favorite trees and I used to have one ages ago. So sorry to move and leave it. I also love Koi fish. One of my friends had them and they were just incredible and so friendly. I enjoyed being able to come along with you.
