SHEEP !

2010 has been declared the 'International Year of Biodiversity'. Wandering Sheep play a significant role in ensuring the dispersal of seeds and small animals through their fur and paws.  To bring this to the attention and contribute to biodiversity across borders, on the 5th of June, European shepherds and their sheep departed from Berlin for a trek through Germany, the Netherlands, Belgium and Luxembourg.

Today we were lucky enough to see them passing by in our village : 600 sheep and their shepherds !!! Of course many people wanted to see this and followed the herd for a while and I took about a million of pictures. Here they come...

Thank you soooooo much for posting these!

Those herders with the dusters (that's what we call those coats here) on horseback look like scenes right out of a movie!

Oh I adore these shots of the sheep. That does look like a motion picture. The dusters are very cool. Love it.
